Hello world!
There is no time like the present to set up your travel blog. “Hello World” is the right way to start a blog about travel. Especially when our travel plans have a start, but not a defined end. On our last long overseas trip to the US, we found that tweeting with pictures was a great daily way to share our adventures. Especially when you are in the midst of travelling and like those who look at their phone screens rather than look out the window, we want to make sure that we are in the moment of where we are and not with our noses touching the screen.
I have set this blog up with a newspaper theme and I want to channel a little Hemingway and Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) in capturing the experiences of our travels. It is the second part of a famous quote by Mark Twain which despite the arrival of the internet since he wrote that, still rings true in an age of metaverse scale fake news…
Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime
Setting up the blog means not only selecting a blog theme but selecting plugins that will assist in presenting maps, embedded videos, photographs and other connected goodies to support the words I cobble together to describe the eye-opening things we are likely to experience.
While our journey has no defined end, South America is one block of travel we are planning. When I say planning, we will land in Santiago, Chile and head north moving around in a generally clockwise direction with a planned sojourn to the Galapagos Islands and Havana, Cuba to break up this circumnavigation.
